Project 1 Reflections

This project was quite the experience for me.

Having no design background, when we got the description for what project one was going to be, I started to feel immediately overwhelmed. Filling out the design proof first was also a challenge. Being an individual who doesn't think pre-visually when it comes to designing, but rather experimenting to get the final product, it was difficult to work off of a type and color proof that was established before my design.

I absolutely hated my initial design.  I didn't know what to do with it and it was just obnoxious. The colors were explosive and had no purpose, but I felt like I had to throw them all on there.  Once I took a step back and redesigned my poster, all in black and white, I was able to focus on my design, then add color.

As the design came along, I started to get very excited and feel a lot better about it.  When I put the final touches on my design and decided to switch out the solid-color background for a full image, I knew I had made the right design choice. I was able to start to gain an understanding of deliberate design choices and decisions.
